A List Obsessive?

I like lists. I write lists all the time.

At work in particular I like to write a big old long ‘to do list’ (I’m that pathetic that I even title said list ‘to do list’ and underline it). Once each job is completed I scribble a satisfying wavy line through it.

It gives me an enormous sense of well-being.

Sometimes I write down something which I’ve already done, just so I can draw my wavy line through it.

Like a true luddite I eschew any technology which might help me manage my to do lists electronically. Mainly, I must confess, because I’ve not found a solution yet which allows me to draw a satisfying scribbly, wavy line.

I also love it when the page is covered with wavy lines. I can then tear out the page, and start with a lovely new fresh page.

And of course, create a lovely new list.

I’d like to think that I’m not alone in my list making.

If you too have a quiet little list making habit that your friends, colleagues and frankly even strangers ridicule you for - leave a comment and maybe, just maybe we can support each other.

Sticks and stones may break our bones, but names can never hurt us.

I’m now off to draw a lovely scribbly, wavy line through the ‘write blog post’ entry on my to do list…

It’s just not the same a drawing a wavey line though but double tapping an icon with your finger on the iphone is very satisfying… im 100% sure that’s just me though.

    I’m a luddite… I don’t have an iphone

But, in the spirit of open-mindednes I’ll take the trial - grudgingly mind :)

I like lists! But I am a ticker rather than a scribbler. I think this goes back to childhood and playing schools and pretending to mark my friends work… how lame were we?

However my “to do list” at work starts off quite reasonable and for the first hour I am ticking along nicely…excuse the pun. But after an hour the list starts growing and before long I am spending more time adding things to my list than actually doing the work they require, let alone ticking them off. *sigh*

This has somewhat tainted my love of lists unfortunately, as for me anything that reminds me of being at work is like torture…bad times!

    Love the blog Hanneerrr xxx

Yay - fellow list writer! Although you really *should* try a wavy line… You’ll never look back :)

Oh and I loved prentending to mark my friends work - I was a harsh marker though, no easy gold stars with me…

[...] In reality though, I’d probably mostly use it to write ridiculously long to do lists. [...]

I thought you might like to know that I now have new way of doing my to do list. It involves a spreadsheet, sorting priorities by different colours, having a column for progress and putting all my completed stuff in blue! It makes me happy…although this may also make me a bit sad…what dya think?

PS. Is it also a bit sad that I looked up this post on your blog just so I could tell you about it? I apologise if my posting this reflects badly on you :)

Yaddy I heart you & I love that you dug up this old post :)

Your new way of to do list making does sound nice, but sadly - still no wavy line… nothing makes me quite so happy as a wavy line…
